
Sri Narendra Modi’s pet project ‘Make in India’ week was held in Mumbai from 13th to 18th February 2016 at MMRDA grounds, showcasing India’s huge manufacturing prowess. The week exhibited the potential of design, innovation, technology and sustainability across India’s manufacturing sectors.
Among the thousands of domestic and international companies who participated during the week, the Lion of the North-East India was BITCHEM Asphalt Pvt. Ltd. who was the only company from the North-East India to be invited to participate in the Make in India week which was attended by the who’s who of the manufacturing industry in India.
Participating as a technology exhibitor, Bitchem held a spectacular exhibit at the venue that showcased the green road building technology with the use of the revolutionary CSIR-CRRI cold-mix that helps in reducing carbon footprints ensuring a health-friendly and environment-friendly construction for all stakeholders involved in the process of road-building. Bitchem was also invited to participate in several State investment sessions and sectoral seminars where they showcased how a start-up, an incubation of CSIR-CRRI from the northeast region has scaled up to the rest of the country.
The exhibit was received extremely well by dignitaries and stalwarts during the week. Some of the personalities who took immense interest in BITCHEM’s exhibit include Mr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India among others.
Bitchem team led by CEO Mr. Rajeev Agarwal actively participated in a host of collateral events during the Make in India week in Mumbai, marking an important presence among other industry leaders from across India.
The state/country investment summits Bitchem participated in included those of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha and Australia, where Bitchem posted valuable queries about higher VAT on cold-mix versus hot-mix, states’ initiatives on green technologies in rural infrastructure on which several states invited proposals from Bitchem. Mr. Rajeev Agarwal, CEO also expressed his views on the ease of doing business in India to the panellists.
Team Bitchem became an active participant in several important seminars across categories of infrastructure and renewable energy. The important seminars participated in included Make in India through MSME Partnership. Seminar on Renewable Energy, Sectoral seminar on Roads & Highways, Sectoral seminar on Railways, and Sectoral seminar on Power & Coal.
The week-long Make in India event secured investment commitments worth Rs. 15.2 lakh crore, with host State Maharashtra alone accounting for Rs 8 lakh crore. Over 2,500 international and 8,000 domestic companies participated in the week-long multi- sectoral industrial event, apart foreign government delegations from 68 countries and business teams from 72 nations.
Bitchem Asphalt Pvt. Ltd., being the only participant from the North-East India gained a lot of appreciation during the Make in India week for its active participation across events. The participation truly added to making Bitchem one among the many pioneer start-ups in India who will go a long way giving India the identity of a land of opportunities to ‘Make in India’!
